We are thrilled to welcome Rachel Wharton on board as a Festival Judge this year.
Rachel Wharton serves as deputy editor of Edible Manhattan and Edible Brooklyn magazines, works as a freelance food writer for publications such as Saveur, the Wall Street Journal, Salon.com, Time Out New York, and Rachael Ray Magazine, and produces a weekly food segment for NY1, a local television station in New York City.
She holds a master’s degree in Food Studies from New York University, where she focused her research on sustainable agriculture in the United States and New York city food history and culture. She has nearly 20 years of experience as a writer, starting her career with fisheries, water issues, coastal life (and fried oysters) in North Carolina, where she grew up. Before joining the Edibles, she spent four-and-half years working as the features food reporter and editor at the New York Daily News. Wharton won a 2010 James Beard food journalism award for stories in Edible Brooklyn, while her profile of the 100-year-old Russ & Daughters appetizing shop was included in 2010 Best Food Writing.
PS: She will “eat taco truck tacos with abandon, no matter their sustainability.”
We know you will love the Tribeca Taco Takedown Rachel!
